Helpful Tips...
Order invitations three to four months before the wedding date. Order sooner if you are working with a calligrapher. Most calligraphers take 2-3 weeks to complete an order for 100 envelopes.
Mail invitations six to eight weeks before the wedding date. If you have a lot of out of town guests or international guests, ten weeks prior would be appropriate. If you are getting married on a holiday or during a holiday weekend, you should plan on mailing eight to ten weeks out.
If you want to save yourself some stress, mail 'Save the Date' cards four to six months before the wedding date. This is sure to give your guests plenty of planning time.
Get the proof!!! Many stationery vendors allow you to purchase a proof of the invitation prior to printing. This allows you to see what your actual invitation will look like and to catch a mistake should there be any.
Ask for your response cards 2-3 weeks before the wedding day. You can't make your seating chart until all your guests have responded. Most caterers require a final head count 1 week in advance.
